Abstract: Fluctuations in the catches and stocks of fish are exceedingly important and have interested scientific workers for years. As far as the salmon is concerned it is known that great fluctuations occur not only in the number of fish entering the rivers from year to year but also in their character. This paper is an attempt to put on record certain changes, some of which have already been recorded in papers on Irish salmon published in a very wide range of journals.
