Abstract: During 1971 a team of divers studied the structure and numbers of entrances of burrows of Nephrops norvegicus in the Irish Sea off Clogherhead and counted their numbers in plots of 28sq.m area. Numbers of entrances found ranged from one to six with a peak at 3 and the densities of Nephrops norvegicus found ranged from 1 per 2.5sq.m downwards.
